Community-Driven and Inclusive Settlement Design

POROUS CITY LAB

ABOUT THE LAB

BUILDING CLIMATE RESILIENCE THROUGH INCLUSIVE DESIGN

Southeast Asia faces severe climate risks including land subsidence, coastal inundation, and erosion of rural livelihoods. Existing governance frameworks remain fragmented and insufficiently responsive to systemic change

THE CONCEPT OF 'POROSITY'

Porous City Lab advances the concept of 'porosity' as a guiding framework for resilience—encompassing cities that can absorb and adapt to change, landscapes that remain dynamic and productive, and communities that are empowered to respond to uncertainty.

This approach bridges local knowledge with global expertise, creating platforms that strengthen local capacities and foster inclusive planning processes.
